Hello, I'm Claire Watson - illustrator and wildlife-lover from Chichester, West Sussex. I run Green Sketching workshops to connect people to nature through drawing.
To book me for a workshop, simply get in touch and we can discuss your needs and the costs. I've hosted workshops with charities, groups of friends, businesses and families. Or sign up for my seasonal newsletter to stay in the loop!
What is Green Sketching?
The basic act of drawing can connect us to nature by making us stop, look and notice. This can have huge benefits for our mental wellbeing too. Green Sketching focuses on the act of looking and drawing, not creating a finished artwork - it is suitable for everyone, from no drawing experience to practising artists.
Green Sketching can help us -
• connect with nature - the more we notice, the more we care and connect
• slow down, notice the world around us and switch off from technology
• improve mental wellbeing through simple focused activities
• gain confidence and new skills, in a relaxed setting (there is no pressure or expectations)
You only need pencil and paper, and you can do it anywhere so it is incredibly accessible!
Green Sketching is a growing nature-connection movement, conceived by Dr Ali Foxon. For an inspiring talk and explanation about Green Sketching, watch Ali’s TEDx talk -
What to expect from my workshops
I can work with your business, community group or any individual to host a Green Sketching workshop with you. We will focus on the joy of being outside and noticing what is around us. The activities are simple, and you explore drawing at your own pace. We don't share our drawings, and the sessions are relaxed and supportive.
