Green Sketching - West Stoke Woods, Chichester / Friday 25th April 2025, 10-12.15pm
This workshop has sold out but sometimes places do come available last minute - please contact me to be added to the waiting list.
Join me (Claire) for two hours of ‘Bluebell Bathing’ - I made that up, but sounds good doesn’t it?! Learn how simple drawing activities can turn a walk into a magical world of wonder, noticing and slowing down, benefitting our mental health and bringing calm to our busy lives.
West Stoke Woods are one of the best spots in our area to enjoy the bluebell spectacle. I will take you off the main paths to some quieter areas where we will sit and really get to know the bluebells (and the rest of the woods around us) with some doodling.
Through guided activities we will take a slow approach to noticing our natural environment, and use a pencil to enhance our observations. Taking the time to draw simple natural shapes or do some nature doodles gives our minds time to slow down, and focus on something immediate and simple.
This focus on the process of drawing (rather than the finished result) means that everyone, regardless of previous drawing experience, can benefit from the joy of Green Sketching. Absolute beginners very much encouraged… and don’t worry, we won’t be sharing or comparing our drawings!
All materials provided, participants just need drinks/snacks and appropriate footwear and clothing for being outside. There will be short stretches of walking as part of the workshop.
Please note this workshop is 15 minutes longer to give us a little more time for walking - it finishes at 12.15.

Workshops details -
We will meet at the West Stoke car park (see more details below) at 10am. Please feel free to arrive a few minutes early, I will be there to meet you. There will then be a short walk along the road (no pavement) to get to the woods. Once in the woods, we will find some nice quiet spots to surround ourselves with bluebells! The session will finish at 12pm with the short walk back to the carpark. Please note there are no toilets.
All materials are provided as part of your fee. You will be given your own pocket sketchbook to use and take away with you, as well as a handy Green Sketching guide. All other materials will be for use in the workshop. Just bring yourself, a drink and any snacks you might want.
Please come prepared to be outdoors. Sturdy footwear is essential, and if it’s cold or wet, wear a coat and enough layers to stay warm while sitting down. If it’s sunny, please bring suncream and a hat.
There will be some walking on uneven surfaces (stones, roots, slight inclines) and either standing or sitting on logs/the ground for drawing. If you wish, you could bring a mat or something to sit on but this is not essential.
Participants must be over 18 years, or 14-17 years with an accompanying adult (you both need fully paid tickets). No dogs please.
There are no toilets at this location.
When you book I will ask you to let me know of any mobility or health issues, and also an emergency name and contact number. Please make sure this is all accurate, just send me a quick email if there is anything else you need to tell me.
Please read the full terms and conditions - by booking this workshop, you are agreeing to these terms.
And just get in touch if you have any questions about accessibility, location or what to expect from the workshop!
